VISION

I have a comprehensive plan and vision for the Broward Sheriff's Office.  The Broward Sheriff's office is one of the largest public safety agencies in the United States.  Our community cannot afford to compromise from the highest levels of professionalism and integrity with our safety and security.   From guarding our sea port and airport, fire safety and emergency medical attention to security after a storm event I pledge to manage our community's largest public safety agency with the highest level of honor and integrity.

As your Sheriff I pledge to:

 - Abide by the Rule of Law

 - Zero Tolerance for criminal offenses

- Provide leadership in community crime prevention

- Give residents a voice in how their neighborhoods should be protected

- Instill greater pride and commitment to excellence among deputies, BSO firefighter paramedics
     and civilian employees.

 - Develop countywide Fire Rescue “Closest Unit Response Plan,” allowing for quicker response to medical emergencies and the saving of lives.

 - Increase Medevac transports through the lease/purchase of an additional helicopter, allowing for a faster response, when minutes count, to trauma victims in the far reaches of the county.

 - Increase neighborhood law enforcement presence by assigning more deputies to road patrol while reducing payroll costs. This would be accomplished through implementation of a 12-hour shift, which is a growing practice with local police throughout America, and reassigning administrative personnel from desk jobs to patrol duties.

 - Secure the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades by adding world-class security practices learned from first hand experience with the U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Leverage BSO resources by making greater use of task forces with state and federal authorities. Aggressively pursue grants for equipment upgrades, to include “smart technology” cameras.
